The Colac Vets had a field of fourteen riders for their first monthly medal of the year competing in light westerly winds.
The middle marker 10 minute bunch foursome combined well to keep the back markers out of contention.
They caught the next bunch of three riders with 6Km to go and then the lone front marker with 2Km to go.
Gavin O’Brien, who first began racing with the Colac Vets in 2017, was very happy to claim his first monthly medal ahead of co markers David Coventry and Steve Hamling.
The back markers were well of the pace coming in over three minutes behind.
Lone scratchman Tony Luppino put in a huge effort to nearly catch his four minute gap to the second scratch bunch of five riders to take fastest time.

This combined group then caught the two leaders with just 1.5Km to go.
After a long lead out from Luke Rowe, Michael Markham powered to the finish line to take the win ahead of Mark Flett and Paul Brill.
